Several naming conventions based on correspondences to human chromosomes have been applied to rhesus macaque chromosomes in different publications. The following table from Zimin et al. summarizes the correspondences between human chromosomes and chimpanzee, gorilla, orangutan and various rhesus macaque chromosome names. The rheMac8 assembly uses chromosome names from the rightmost column (Rogers et al.).
